La ruta al Oscar 2012 sigue a un día de la entrega de la preciada estatuilla de Hollywood y en esta ocasión se han entregado los Film Independent Spirit Awards, dedicados a las producciones independientes. Sin sorpresas El Artista (The Artist) se alzó con cuatro galardones, Mejor Película, Mejor Director, Mejor Actor y Mejor Fotografía.
